The challenge

Leading several client projects at once means balancing customer expectations, technical decisions and the capacity of the team doing the work. At 3D Walkabout, my responsibility spans those conversations, from shaping a proposal to coordinating development, quality assurance and delivery.

My role

I lead a multidisciplinary team of eight across XR, web, 3D, quality assurance and business analysis. Alongside technical direction, I manage project budgets, team costs and resource allocation. My people responsibilities include recruitment, performance reviews and team development.

How I lead the work

I work with clients to clarify what they need, assess feasibility and turn the discussion into scope, priorities and release plans. That involves weighing the value of a request against its technical complexity and the capacity available across concurrent projects.

I stay close enough to the implementation to understand the trade-offs, while coordinating the people and disciplines needed to deliver it. Architecture, development, QA and stakeholder communication all need to support the same priorities.

I also use practical automation within that delivery process. One example takes a client bug from ticket creation through a proposed code fix and a pull request back to the codebase. Other work supports daily team workflows and time blocking. These are specific workflow improvements, rather than a claim that delivery or engineering judgement can be fully automated.

Scope and evidence

I have led or overseen six client projects, with up to five running concurrently. The portfolio includes work still in progress. Alongside delivery, I contribute to proposals and help align scope, estimates and team capacity.

The role brings together the parts of delivery I am responsible for: helping clients make informed choices, giving the team clear priorities and managing the resources needed to carry the work through.
